What is the difference between an
Account/Account Name/Username/POP Account and alias/email
address?
- an alias is the name that will be shown your address:
fred@yourdomain.com
- POP account is the account username on the server: eg fred

How do we add users to the domain
e-mail?
Please email us at we will update your
aliases. FYI, we now have an email administration system which
would allow you make the changes to your domain yourself eg
add email, delete, add vacation message etc. If you are interested
to have this feature added at no cost please confirm to support
@ thewire.ca and we can arrange a time to have them transfered
as it would require some settings changes on the users end.
There would be no downtime as a result of the upgrade.

What is unlimited aliasing?
-this allows you to have all virtual addresses from your
domain to go to an email account
eg info@domain.com sales@domain.com etc

Why can't I send messages?
Email is almost always sent out through the mail server of
your bandwidth provider. If you are a Wire website
or email client but use another internet provider for DSL
or dialup please call that internet provider first to check
there are no current SMTP problems.
-How long have you noticed the problem? Please be patient
as there may be slowness from your internet connection and/or
you may have too many applications running.
-NB NB restart your machine and restart program
-if you are on a network --are all the other computers down?
-Check your settings especially
your username/password combination and the Wire mail servers:
mail.the-wire.com
-Log into WebMail
to confirm username and password and deleting the messages
from the server will often fix the problem.
-confirm that your virus program isn't blocking mail
-Make sure you are sending email in batches less than 25.
In addition, any incorrect addresses could cause the server
to reject the entire list, or remaining addresses. So verify
every address thoroughly.
-if there is still a problem please take note of the error
message.

I am not receiving certain messages, why?
-most likely this is a problem with the person sending messages
-make certain they are sending to the correct address eg fred@the-wire.com
-the attachment size is less than 8 MB
-confirm you haven't had any filters in place which has removed
the message or that you have deleted the message
-if there is still a problem please take note of the error
message and/or if you can send a copy of the message with
the error message to

Why can't I get into my mailbox?
Ensure you are online by checking a website. Please refer
to login problems or
disconnect problems if
that is the issue
-How long have you noticed the problem? Please understand
if your internet connection and/or your computer has too many
applications running this may cause email problems.

to confirm username and password; deleting first unread
message from the server will often fix the problem.

I do that?

Messages from someone
are being blocked as spam, what can we do?
If someone who is trying to send messages is being blocked
as spam please send a copy of the error message to support
@ thewire.ca in order to confirm. They may have to use an
email account such as hotmail or gmail to send the message.
