We can provide residential circuits with a static IP so that your firewall can lock down a worker's remote access from home to the company network.

Automatic Failover
Managed automatic fail-over between SDSL and ADSL or fibre with Juniper SSG router for $85.00 per month and a $350.00 setup fee.

Reverse IP Delegation
The Wire offers Reverse DNS delegation or Pointer Records (PTR) records which translate your static IPs into host names (the reverse of DNS). PTR records are essential to reliably deliver email and reverse DNS is useful for network monitoring and troubleshooting.

The Wire's VDSL, ADSL and SDSL business highspeed internet services include the option of static or dynamic service and a managed or unmanaged router to support a range of needs and budgets. Static IP addresses with reverse DNS delegation allow your network to host email and other servers and managed routers allow faster end to end circuit diagnostics, proactive monitoring and basic firewall.

Prices do not include 13% HST.

SHDSL services are all on a yearly contract. Setup fees waived on a two year contract.

Speeds listed are maximum theoretical speeds and actual speed may vary with distance to the Central Office and the condition of inside wiring.

The Wire uses Zhone modems and routers for ADSL and SDSL and Sagecom modems for VDSL. All equipment remains the property of The Wire and must be returned to effect cancellation.

IP addresses

IPs listed as 5+ include 5 usable static IPs and requests for more require simple justification. While we do not block mail ports, we have zero tolerance for spam originating from or pointing to IPs in our network.

The Wire has no bandwidth caps on ADSL and SHDSL business highspeed services. On all ADSL2+ and VDSL services, we utilize a fair use policy that includes 750 GB per month - we can customize a higher cap for clients that consistently require more bandwidth.

Managed DSL offers peace of mind with proactive monitoring and a router that we provide and maintain. Managed service can significantly speed up diagnosis and remedy of a connectivity issue.

At install, The Wire uses existing copper to your location and it is the client's responsibility to confirm with the building superintendent prior to install that there is available inside-wiring all the way to the client end point.

We prefer to use dedicated circuits (dry-pairs) for the installation and our pricing includes the dedicated circuit for most urban locations in Ontario and Quebec in Bands A-D. Additional charges may apply for Bands E-G.
