Windows XP Dialup Settings
  1. Select the Start menu, click 'Accessories', click 'Communications, click 'New Network Connection Wizard'

  2. If you have never specified a dialup connection in Windows XP before, you will now see a window labeled Location Information. Specify the values appropriate to your location in the blanks for Country/region and Area code. Click on OK to continue. At the next window, labeled Phone and Modem Options, click on OK to continue.
  3. Click 'Set up or change your Internet connection'
  4. The Internet Properties window appears. Click 'Setup'.
  5. The 'New Connection Wizard' appears. Click 'Next'.

  6. Click 'Set up my connection manually' then click 'Next'.

  7. Click the first option, 'Connect using a dialup-up modem', then click 'Next'.

  8. Where asked for a name of the connection, type 'The Wire' then click 'Next'.

  9. Type the Wire phone number, 4162146452, into the telephone number field and click 'Next'.

  10. Select the appropriate use for this connection, then click on Next (for anyone's use).
  11. Type your dialup username and password in the appropriate boxes and click 'Next'.

  12. Check the box marked 'Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop' then click 'Finish'.
  13. Double click new 'The Wire' connection icon on the desktop and click the 'Dial' button to connect to The Wire.
