Creating Windows ME Dialup Networking Icon
Open 'Control Panel' folder in 'My Computer' and if needed
set to show all contents.
- Open the 'Dial-Up Networking' folder in 'Control Panel'.
- Select 'Make New Connection' from the 'Connections' menu.
- In 'Type a name for the computer you are dialing' enter
The Wire.
- Confirm that 'Select a device' shows a modem that your
computer has recognised. Select 'Next'.
- Enter the phone number and area code for The Wire - 4162146452
- in the Telephone number field only. You can ignore the
area code box. Select 'Next'.
- Select 'Finish'.
Configuring Windows ME Dialup Networking Properties
- Select the new icon called 'The Wire' and select 'Properties'.
- Select the 'Networking' tab and uncheck options under
'Advanced options'.
- Under 'Allowed Network Protocals', only check off TCP/IP.
Click OK.
- Select The Wire icon and 'Create shortcut' to desktop.
- Double click The Wire icon and enter the username and
password and click Connect.
